Police have seized a huge haul of cannabis – totalling more than £600,000 – after officers raided a drugs factory.
Officers raided premises on Siding Road, Fleetwood, where they discovered 275 plants and a sophisticated lighting and heating system.
They also found a quantity of cannabis which had already been prepared and placed in bags, ready to be sold.
This had an additional value of £100,000.
Two men have been arrested in relation to drugs matters, and are understood to be from Fleetwoood. No charges have been made yet.
Insp Jonathan Smith, of Fleetwood Police, said: “This was a really significant growth of cannabis.
“When you consider that each plant can produce a crop valued at £2,000, and there were 275 plants, it amount to a sizeable operation.
“People may wrongly think this is an easy way to make money, but people involved in this kind of activity face heavy penalties and we will act on community intelligence, just as we have in this case.”
Insp Smith added that cannabis production was not a low level harmless enterprise.
He said: “We do see people suffering from the long -term effects of prolonged cannabis use. As well as that, the money raised goes into organised crime that effects victims from our area and further afield.”
The raid took place last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. It follows the discovery of two cannabis factories on Adelaide Street in a separate operation earlier this year.
Insp Smith added: “If people have any information about this matter or similar concerns I would ask them to get in touch.”
