Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a triple extension ladder to help them tackle flames which broke out in a loft.

Crews were called to the blaze at a house in Lancaster Place, Great Eccleston, at 1am on Sunday.

The loft was almost completely destroyed by the fire, and there was severe smoke and heat damage to the first floor of the property.

No-one had to be rescued.
