Do you know your Catherine Wheel from your rocket?

If you reckon you’re a good judge of master-blasting pyrotechnical displays, then a competition ahead of the World Fireworks Championships in Blackpool could be right up your street.

VisitBlackpool is giving one lucky person the opportunity to join the official judging panel and decide who deserves the firework crown.

The winner, and up to three friends or family members, will spend the evening in the VIP judging area where hospitality will be provided and where they will get to meet the pyrotechnic teams.

Top international firework experts from Ireland, China and France will represent their homeland by staging stunning pyrotechnical displays above Blackpool’s North Promenade on September 6, 13, 20.

British Pyrotechnical experts Titanium will then close the event on September 27, when the winner will also be announced.

Natalie Wyatt, managing director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “The event is enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people each year. We are really looking forward to witnessing some spectacular displays.

“We have decided to have a guest judge this year because it is such an amazing event.”

Each heat of the competition is free to view, and the fireworks will be launched from North Pier.
