Clifford Jones, who made a drunken nuisance of himself outside the Sandcastle water park, also pushed a police officer when he was arrested.

Jones, 44, of Cremor Hay, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to assault on police, damage and being drunk and disorderly.

He was sentenced to a six- week curfew from 7pm to 6am and ordered to pay £750 compensation for the damage by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Jones and his girlfriend were causing a fracas outside the Sandcastle on January 26 at 1pm. Jones was aggressive to builders doing work at the water park, challenging an apprentice by saying “You and me - now.” The builders went into the Sandcastle and locked the doors.

Jones and his partner were seen banging on them. Jones then caused £750 worth of damage to two of the builder’s vans, smashing a window, pulling off a wiper and denting bodywork.

Police saw a tram being forced to stop by Jones’ and his partner’s antics on the tracks. As he was arrested Jones pushed an officer and tried to headbutt him.

Jones told magistrates he had been very drunk and apologised for his actions.
