Concerns raised over postal move

Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for equalities Coun John Jones is to write to Post Office bosses to express his concern over the decision to relocate the Whitegate Drive Post Office.

Following consultation, the organisation has decided to move the post office across the road into an off-licence despite objections from some residents.

Coun Jones said: “There are a number of issues which people have raised with me.

“Firstly, a number of residents were concerned about parking nearby. There is little on-street parking near to the store which makes it much more difficult whereas you could park in front of the old shop.

“I will write to the Post Office to express my concern over the new arrangements and hope a solution can be found.”

The Post Office said a number of branches successfully operated from similar types of retailer without compromising the level of service.
