Concern grows for missing Kirsten

A POLICE hunt was launched after a Blackpool woman disappeared on the day she was meant to jet out for a foreign holiday.

Kirsten Mathers, 26, was last seen at 9pm on Saturday and failed to turn up on Monday morning to head to the airport for a family holiday to Majorca.

Her father Donnie Mathers, 58, said: “We’re concerned about her behaviour. Anything that can be done to help will be positive.

“We know she is ok as she is heading south and the police have tracked her car, but it is very unusual of her to be like this.

“We just want her to get in touch and let us know she is ok.”

Kirsten was to meet at her parents Donnie and Chrissie’s home on Gregson Close, Marton, on Monday morning, ahead of the trip.

Mr Mather’s went to Kirsten’s home in Blackpool and found her car was missing and she had left her mobile phone at the house.

Police have established she withdrew money from a cash machine in Preston on Sunday morning, before tracking the former King Edward VII and Queen Mary pupil’s car through Manchester, Sheffield, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, with police now focusing the search on the Nottingham and Leicester areas.

She is described as white, of medium build and about 5ft 2in tall. She has very long black hair often worn in a ponytail and has a pale complexion.

Sgt Phil McVicar, of Blackpool Police, said: “Due to the fact Kirsten has not been in touch with her family, they are growing concerned for her welfare and would ask her to get in touch with either a member of her family or the police to let them know she is ok.

“We believe Kirsten has access to her car, which is a red or purple Ford KA with the registration number PJ09 XXD and that she may have to travelled to the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire areas and so we would appeal to people in those areas to let us know if they think they have seen her or her vehicle in the area.”

Friends have said her actions are totally out of character and are appealing on social networking websites for information about her disappearance.

Close friend Elizabeth Ferrie, 26, added: “We are doing everything to find Kirsten. I’ve been appealing for information on Facebook and people are trying to spread the news that way.”
