Fleetwood coastguard was called out last night to reports of a 'distraught person' on the beach in Cleveleys.

Coastguard volunteers were called by Lancashire police at around 10.45pm for help in locating a vulnerable missing person, who had been reported to them by a member of the public.

Two search teams investigated the shore from Cleveleys to Rossall.

One team located 'an upset person' who voluntarily left the scene following a conversation with the volunteers.

People are advised to contact the coastguard on 999 if they see anyone in trouble or distress along the coast or at sea.
