Coastguard and lifeboat crews called out to people cut off by tide at Anchorsholme

The coastguard is reminding people to check tide times after two people were cut off at Anchorsholme this morning.

Lytham Coastguard were called out shortly before 11am to reports of people being cut off by the tide.

Both the coastguard and Blackpool Beach Patrol arrived at the scene but the pair had already swam back to the shore.

A spokesman for Lytham Coastguard said: "We checked them over and they were adamant that they were okay, but just a little shaken.

"One of our officers and an officer from Fleetwood Coastguard walked them back home and gave them some safety advice. They were extremely thankful for our quick response and have offered to donate some money to the Coastguard Association."

Following the incident, the coastguard team issued a warning that people need to check the tide times adding 'it could save your life.'

RNLI Blackpool were also dispatched but the crew was called off after being made aware the two people were safe.

A spokesman for the lifeboat servicesaid: "Our RNLI volunteers were called out shortly before 11am to reports of two people cut off by the tide at Anchorsholme. The Atlantic 85 lifeboat launched and was heading to the scene but fortunately the casualties reached safety before the lifeboat arrived."
