JB’s and Earlybirds Out of School Care Club, based at Baines Endowed School in Thornton, was criticised in October after an inspector from the education watchdog said paperwork intended to keep children safe had not been lodged properly.

And a follow-up inspection has since found the club’s committee still hadn’t met safeguarding requipments.

Inspector Donna Birch said: “This means Ofsted has not been able to carry out required checks to ensure the commitee is made up of people suitable to be involved in childcare.

“This was identified at the previous inspection and no action has been taken to address this issue.”

However, the club’s quality of teaching was rated ‘good’. Manager Linda Barrow said: “It was not done and it should have been, but it will be done this time next week.”
