Clitheroe bonfire tickets selling very fast

This year’s eagerly-awaited bonfire is to go ahead on the Clitheroe Castle field on Saturday (November 2nd) as an all-ticket event due to health and safety regulations, with a maximum 5,000 people allowed to attend.

However, organisers say phenomenal success has followed the launch of the ticket sales and the number of available places for the spectacular event is dropping fast.

Most of the 5,000 tickets for Saturday evening’s extravaganza have been snapped up and there are only 500 left. Bonfire committee chairman Mr Bill Barker said: “Tickets are selling fast and 4,500 have already been sold. There are only 500 left and people have until Saturday to buy them. I would like to emphasize that no tickets will be sold on the night and anyone who wants to attend the event must buy beforehand.”

Tickets can be bought from Dawson’s or from any Rotary, Round Table or Lions members.

They cost £10 for a family ticket (two adults and two children under 16), £5 for an adult ticket (16 and over), £2 for a child’s ticket (under 16), with free admission for the under-threes.

There will be the usual attractions including a hog roast, hot dogs and food by Indian Delight, who took part at the Clitheroe Food Festival. There will also be tea, coffee and soft drinks, plus novelty flashing toys.

The event’s sponsors are FMB Solicitors, Kenneth Hind Barrister Oriel Chambers, Lancaster Brewery, Dugdale Nutrition Ltd, Castle Cement, Pubwatch, Clitheroe Town Council and Ribble Valley Borough Council, which is also allowing use of the Castle grounds and has assisted with the administration.
