Climbing high for Lewis

Children have scaled the height of Mount Everest – at an adventure park in Lytham.

The challenge was set at Kaos Indoor High Wire Adventure, where children and staff spent the day climbing up indoor trees to a total of 8,848 metres.

Their mammoth climb was to help raise money for classmate Lewis Sykes, 10, who is recovering from a gruelling nine-hour operation to remove a tumour on his brain.

The epic climb has been organised by Kaos owner Sarah Ansell, whose daughter Katie is in Lewis’s class at Lytham Hall Park Primary School.

Staff member Gina Tankredi said: “We just want to raise as much as we can for this much-needing family.

“We’ve been asking children to collect sponsorship for this climb, and everyone’s been really excited about it.”

The climb at Kaos, on Preston Road, is expected to have raised up to £1,500.

Sarah, 42, said: “It was an amazing day.

“Between us all, there was more than 500 climbs in the day, so we did slightly over the height of Everest.

“Children of all ages from Hall Park came, as well as last year’s Year Six, who are in high school now. Lewis’s family was also involved.

“It was incredible. The whole community came together for somebody that we all know and want to help.”
