Claw hammer armed robbery attack at off-licence

A man accused of attempted armed robbery at a convenience store during which he hit the store manager with a claw hammer has made his first appearance at court,

Simon Oliver, a 30-year-old father-of-two, of Leeds Road, Blackpool, is charged with the attempted robbery of the contents of the till at the Premier store, Highfield Road, Blackpool, on Wednesday.

He is also accused of possessing a claw hammer in a public place. Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said the case must be heard at crown court and opposed bail for Oliver.

Oliver was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 27 by Blackpool Magistrates.
