Cheryl looking forward to being town's next mayor

Cheryl Little is to be the next town mayor of St Annes.

She will succeed Vince Settle, to whom she is currently deputy, at St Annes Town Council’s annual meeting on May 24.

Cheryl represents Fairhaven ward on both Fylde and St Annes Town Councils and is passionate about the development of tourism and leisure, chairing committees for Tourism and Leisure on Fylde Council and Leisure and Community at the Town Council.

She is on the committees of the Friends of St Annes Palace, the St George’s Day Festival, the YMCA and is a trustee of Lowther Gardens, on which she represents Fylde Council. She is also president of Ashton Gardens Bowling Club, chairman of governors at Weeton School and a member of Lytham Ladies Tangent.

She said: “Through these responsibilities, I have recognised the important role that leisure and community activities play in today’s society and the importance of accessible, high quality leisure provision which can enhance the quality of life, health and well-being of the local community.

“I love living in St Annes with its parks, promenade, gardens and of course the beach,

“Since my election to the Town Council six years ago it has been a pleasure to represent the town and becoming town mayor is the icing on the cake and a great honour.

“The role will enable me to speak and act in multiple capacities as ambassador, facilitator, promoter and encourager and in my mayoral year I intend to raise funds for the RNLI – my husband Paul is the station officer of HM Coastguard, so I know first hand the vital role these volunteers play in keeping our shores safe.

“I will be holding a wide variety of fund-raising events and I hope these will be well supported by the people of St Annes.”
