Lytham’s Round Table Association has achieved a new first – by brewing its very own ale

The popular charitable mens’ club has teamed up with local business Lytham Brewery to create the 5,000 pints of ale which will be distributed across the Fylde coast from mid-September and October.

The club, which last year raised more than £14,000 for charity through an annual bonfire night display at Fylde Rugby Club and Santa’s Christmas tour of Lytham St Annes, will donate £10 to Lytham St Annes branch of RNLI with an additional £5 donated by Lytham Brewery, for every barrel of ale sold in the area.

And to celebrate the accomplishment, members will be saving some of their homemade ale for the 75th annual charter night anniversary dinner at Fylde Rugby Club on October 18.

Group chairman Adrian Banks said: “It was the concept of (member) Justin Kimber, with the support of the rest of the members, and was a way to celebrate our 75th anniversary and also support a local charity, as for every barrel sold a donation will be made by ourselves and Lytham brewery to the local RNLI.

“It is also hoped to raise awareness of the work and to work closely with a local company Lytham brewery, also to help attract new members, we are all keen to see the beer on sale.”

The product will be a lighter beer of around four per cent and the product’s taste will be determined at the final tasting which will be completed this Monday.

Round Table are also hoping to raise awareness of their activities through the publicity of the ale.

Although the main aim of the group is not to raise money for charity, they often hold fund-raising events for the RNLI and other local charities such as Ormerod Trust, Brian House, Air Ambulance, Park View 4U, Scouts and Guides, Riding for the Disabled and Children of Chernobyl.

The group meets twice a month and often goes on group activities.
