Ten-year-old Charlie Jordan, who amazed his family and friends by going back to school in September just months after being diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), sat down to watch Ice Age: Collision Course with a group of friends.

He was also wheeled down the red carpet, ‘papped’ by Gazette photographer Dan Martino, and given popcorn and sweets before the film started.

He even got to meet Santa, who took time out of his busy schedule to fly to the Dreamhouse, in Chapel Street.

Owner Len Curtis said: “It was a phenomenal evening. Charlie was shaking with excitement and said, ‘Wow, it’s amazing!’

“It was just a dream – we were all emotional.”

Charlie, who lives with his mum Emma, 35, in Orchard Close, Thornton, has been battling the rare tumour since January, when he complained about feeling sick and dizzy, and started falling over without explanation.

Emma thought her son had a winter virus, and took him to the Walk-In Centre on Whitegate Drive as a precaution. But after hearing his symptoms, staff sent Charlie to Victoria Hospital, where a scan revealed a growth on his brain.

Within 24 hours, the youngster was transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

Despite his ordeal, the Marvel comics-obsessed youngster returned to classes at St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School in Cleveleys, where he had missed by his friends.
