Volunteers at a Blackpool Christian charity rallied together to improve their headquarters ahead of their official grand opening.
Refreshment UK announced its plans to relocate to Waterloo Road in Blackpool in April.
It was a mammoth task but now we are ready
The faith-inspired charity aims to work alongside existing Blackpool churches to fund volunteer visits to some of the world’s poorest towns and villages.
Good Samaritans gathered at the ‘Refresh Centre’ last week to pull weeds, strip wallpaper and sweep floors to prepare for its official opening this winter.
Refreshment UK chief executive Simon Cooper said: “We are very excited and blessed to have relocated to our new facility in Blackpool.
“We are in a wonderful town and we are delighted to have secured a place here to start the Refresh Centre.
“We are thrilled and delighted that so many people have been able to join us in our new community-based venture for Blackpool.
“God has shown us his bounty and we are rejoicing!
“We are thankful and grateful to both our ‘Friends of the Refresh Centre’ and the willing band of volunteers who have joined in over this weekend.
“We look forward to sharing our future development and services with the community of Blackpool as we reach out in times of both good and need through local mission and training”.
Refresh staff worker Toni Thorncraft-Smith said: “We’re now totally on track to be fully open by the end of the year, with the first people coming in in the September.
“We cleaned up the gardens, stripped all the wallpaper and cleaned up the whole house.
“It was a mammoth task because it was in such a bad state, but we’re now ready for the services to come in and re-wire everything and we can move forward from there.”
