A Blackpool landlord has welcomed proposed changes by the government into the way private landlords are licensed.
It means in future single units let to one family or person may not have to be licensed.
Bob Jackson, who has opposed plans for selective licensing of landlords by Blackpool Council in the central area of the town, says the government move will benefit good landlords.
He said: “Even though the government appears to be introducing extra regulation here, they are actually easing up on good landlords and recognise their contribution.
“They have moved direction away from single unit properties owned by landlords giving the landlords and their tenants a breather at last.
“We against the selective licence welcome this government move away from taxing single units who in the main are let and managed very well with care towards their tenants.”
