The 10-year-old will be crowned Catterall Gala Queen at the fete on June 3, as she is joined by her Rosebud, five-year-old Beth Arden. Both girls attend Kirkland and Catterall Primary school and cannot wait for their new role.

Catherine’s mum, Gemma, said: “Catherine is very excited about being the gala queen and can’t wait to wear her pretty dress which she chose with me.

“She will be crowned by Joanne Curwen who is a teaching assistant at her school and helped her with speech therapy sessions. Catherine’s retinue is made up from local children from the Catterall area and includes her younger sister Isabel.

“Catherine hopes that loads of people will join her on her special day.”

The procession starts at 1.30pm from Catterall Village Hall, with the crowning taking place at 2.15pm, followed by judging of the floats and fancy dress.

A football tournament starts at 3pm, with a presentation to the winners and runners up at 7pm. Food will be provided from a barbecue from 5pm onwards and DJ Aldini will entertain the crowds through out the day.
