Casualty taken to Alder Hey after air ambulance called to school

A casualty was ferried to Alder Hey Children's Hospital by the North West Air Ambulance after being called to Unity Academy, North Shore on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesman for the NW Ambulance Service confirmed the helicopter had been called to the school in Warbreck Hill Road shortly after 3pm, along with a standard land ambulance, and that one person has been taken to the Merseyside hospital by air but could give no more details.

A spokesman for the school was unable to any add any more while a police spokesman said he had had no reports of the incident.

The school, which has more than 780 students aged from three to 16, resumed classes on Wednesday following the summer break.
