It was a tough call...but the shortlist for The Gazette and Swallowdale Children’s Trust’s £10,000 Community Giveaway can today be revealed.
The trustees of the Swallowdale Children’s Trust spent hours agonising over the dozens of applications from young people and groups hoping to win a slice of our cash giveaway.
The Swallowdale Children’s Trust provides assistance to disadvantaged children and adults under the age of 25, who are living in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.
Nigel Law, chairman of the Swallowdale Children’s Trust, said: “The trustees met to consider the 62 applications from throughout the Fylde and we were determined that awards were made to young people and groups the length and breadth of the Fylde coast, which we believe we have done. We found it very difficult rejecting some applications as they all had merit.
“But we hope we have got an even balance between helping groups and individuals.
“There was a whole range of applications from boxing clubs to plays schools, university students, football clubs and local schools.”
The shortlisted applicants have now been invited to a special presentation evening at The Imperial Hotel, in Blackpool, from 6.30pm on Thursday, June 4, when the winners and the amount of their cash allocation will be officially announced.
There will be teas and coffees on arrival and all the shortlisted nominees are welcome to bring as many supporters as they wish on the night.
And any applicants not lucky enough to have been shortlisted for our campaign can still apply for financial help directly to Swallowdale.
To apply, contact the secretary of the Trust, Alexa Alderson, in writing at P.O. Box 1301, Blackpool, FY1 9HD or email firstname.lastname@example.org
