Cash boost to help women take up sport

A Fylde sports project set up to get more women active has been awarded more than £90,000 by Sport England.

The Y:Women Can project will see YMCA Fylde Coast work in partnership with Fylde Council to increase once a week participation amongst women aged 14-40 in three core sports (cycling, swimming and running).

Mike Vernon, Director of Physical Activity for the YMCA said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this funding from Sport England.

“Being active is really important for a healthy mind and body, in addition to being lots of fun. Thanks to this funding more local women can get involved in sport and reap the rewards that being active provides”
