POLICE were today investigating a suspected arson at a Fylde coast caravan park.
Fire crews were called to the Cala Gran Caravan Park on Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, shortly after 1.30am today.
A woman was reported to be inside the static caravan, but firefighters could not locate her at the scene.
The blaze destroyed the vehicle and also damaged nearby caravans.
Robert Martin, watch manager from Fleetwood Fire Station, said: “This fire was started deliberately and is under investigation by both the police and fire service.
“A person was reported to be inside, but the owner was not there when we arrived. Police are at the caravan and it is being treated as a crime scene.”
Firefighters were also called to a house in Cranbrook Avenue, Bispham, at 2.20am after fire broke out in a television set.
A family of five got out of the building after they unsuccessfully attempted to tackle the fire in a first floor bedroom themselves.
They were all treated at the scene for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The bedroom was severely damaged.
Crews were also called into action after a blaze broke out in the kitchen of a Blackpool house.
Firefighters were called to a house on Hobart Place, Bispham, at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Two breathing appartus and one hose reel were used to extinguish the fire, which caused smoke damage to the kitchen and destroyed a plastic place mat.
