A crash that left two cars badly damaged but, police said, nobody hurt, happened in Beechfield Avenue, close to the junction of Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, at 7.40am.

Police officers and firefighters were spotted at the scene of the accident, which involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and red Vauxhall Astra.

The front end of the Corsa was wrecked, while the Astra was left on the pavement, also badly damaged.

Beechfield Avenue, which links West Park Drive to Whitegate Drive, was blocked while emergency service officials worked to clear the cars and debris from the road.
