A driver came round a corner at speed and crashed into another car before driving off from the accident scene.
Once in custody Edward Wilson appeared to be under the influence of drugs but he refused to give a police doctor a blood sample for testing as he was terrified of needles.
Wilson, 33, of Chatsworth Avenue, Bispham, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis or stopping after an accident and driving without insurance.
He was sentenced to eight weeks’ prison suspended for 12 months, ordered to do 150 hours’ unpaid work for the community, told to pay £85 costs with £115 victims’ surcharge and banned from the road for 32 months by Blackpool Magistrates.
Wilson said he did not want to give a blood sample as he was scared stiff of needles.
