A chef told police she had deliberately crashed her car because she wanted to commit suicide.

Jessica Lightbown was twice over the alcohol limit at the time of the accident.

Lightbown, 21, of Dauntesey Avenue, Normoss, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned from the road for 18 months, fined £120 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, said police were called to Blackpool North rail station on January 19 at 4.40am, where Lightbown had driven a Ford Ka off the station car park, crossed a pedestrian walkway and smashed into bushes in a flowerbed.

Police were also told she was trying to harm herself in the car with a knife.

A breath test showed 69 microgrammes of alcohol in her body – 35 is the limit.
