He was given a six- month conditional discharge, fined £80 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates who ordered the destruction of the drugs.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police went to Cook’s previous address on Horncliffe Road and found eight wraps of cannabis and 230 Tramadol tablets on July 3 at 4pm.

Cook said he had bought the cannabis for himself.

Martin Hillson, defending, said his client had no previous convictions for drug offences.
