Bev Rayfield, who was diagnosed in October 2016, said: “It’s like everything wasn’t real. I was 99 per cent sure it was cancer but to hear those words from a doctor made it so much worse.”

Bev, 59, praised the staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s Breast Care Centre, and has now organised a fund-raising dinner dance for the hospital’s charity.

Having teamed up with her sister Mandy Parlane to put on a charity night at Knott End Working Men’s Club last year – which raised almost £1,000 for the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund –the pair hope to match that success with the event at The Hilton, North Promenade, on Saturday.

She said: “If I can do something to help anyone else going through what I did then I will as a way of saying thank you.”

Tickets cost £35 and include a drinks reception, four-course meal and disco. To book, call Bev on 07709 857010 or Mandy on 07850 469043.
