BLACKPOOL is to feature in a national television advertising campaign aimed at boosting domestic tourism ahead of the Olympic Games.

A 10-second promotion will be bolted onto national TV adverts being run by VisitEngland as part of a £4m drive.

Marketing Blackpool is one of 10 destinations awarded £100,000 from VisitEngland and has found another £100,000 from its own funds and its private partners.

The advert will be broadcast in ITV regions including the South West, Wales and Ulster which are not targeted already.

Managing director of Marketing Blackpool Natalie Wyatt (above) said: “Securing this funding means that we will be able to promote Blackpool to a much wider audience.

“We have 10 seconds to position Blackpool in people’s mind and we believe the best thing to do that is the Tower so people instantly know it’s Blackpool.

“The strap line will be ‘take a fresh look’ and the footage we have is spectacular.

“With so many exciting things happening in the resort throughout 2012, including the Olympic Torch Relay and many events taking place on the Tower Festival Headland, the campaign is perfectly timed to encourage people to visit and enjoy all the resort has to offer.”

The Blackpool slot of the advertising drive, part of VisitEngland’s GREAT campaign, will run at the end of April and the beginning of May in order to coincide with the start of the main holiday season.
