Busy night for coastal rescue teams

RNLI and coastguard teams from across the Fylde coast were called to help after two people went missing.

The rescue operation began after two people riding jet skis launched earlier this evening from Starr Gate, Blackpool.

Having failed to return for close to four hours, the Blackpool RNLI, Lytham RNLI and Southport RNLI teams were called to help.

The operation, supported by Fleetwood Coastguard, Lytham Coastguard and a police helicopter helped to find the pair on a sandbank in the River Ribble.

A coastguard spokesman confirmed the two were “very cold” but safe and were checked by paramedics.
