A business founded by three travel agents who took the plunge after redundancy looks to be going places after its first year.

Travelcare World, in Chapel Street, Poulton, has cruised through its first 12 months,
exceeding the expectations of its owners.

Caroline Foulkes, Shaun Rowley and Lynn Hilliard
decided to use their 60-plus years’ experience in the industry to start their own business.

Caroline said: “It has been brilliant and has exceeded all the expectations.

“We have doubled the amount of business we
expected to achieve for a new agent in the industry.

“We started out with customers we knew from the past and, as the year went on, we picked up others through word of mouth and recommendations.

“We get people who can’t get what they want from other agencies. Because we are
independent we can offer the widest choice and our ATOL licence enables us to build up packages which are anything from short UK breaks right through to three-month long tailor-made worldwide

“We can break the mould. No request is too big or too small, which has been proven with some testing, challenging and sometimes bizarre itineraries and requests we have been given.

“For example, we have just booked a holiday for a customer flying to Florida next year and coming back from a different airport with a different airline.

“When Fleetwood Town celebrated promotion into League One, the players were treated to an all expenses paid trip away to Magaluf.

“They rang up in the morning and we had to get them all away by the following day!

“Lynn and I worked on it all day and we managed to get them on the flights. It put our experience and knowledge to the test.”

She said they also hold evening events after normal opening hours on escorted tours where people can find out about trips to places such as the Inca trail in South America, or China, where a guide is present to make sure they see the best attractions.

“We also do the normal package holidays and we get a lot of business from Jet2 at Blackpool Airport. The main thing is to remember that the customer is the heart and soul of the business. If you haven’t got customers you haven’t got a business,” added Caroline.

The firm has teamed up with Glasgow-based travel company Barrhead Travel Service to use its back offices services and ABTA licences.
