Around 2,500 homes and businesses in the Fylde area experienced issues with their water supply following a leak, says United Utilities.

The company says it located a leak at the junction of Langdale Road and Borrowdale Road which is caused residents in FY4 area to have no water supply or poor pressure.

Engineers are now reported to be working to fix the leak.

The problem was first reported to the company at around 6.55am on September 5.

United Utilities says it received 22 calls from residents with 11 reporting no water and the rest reporting issues with water pressure.

A spokesman for the company said: "We were alerted to a suspected burst water pipe.

"We deployed four water tankers in the area to help with the issues."

A primary school also advised that it would close temporarily following the water supply issues.

Mereside Primary School on Langdale Road asked parents to come and collect their children as they have no water supply.

A spokesman for the school said: "We are closing because we have a water supply problem following a burst on the main road.

"We have no water at the school and we are asking parents to come and collect their children as soon as possible."
