Civil servants on the Fylde are promoting the importance of health and safety to mark Stress Awareness Day today.

The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) is highlighting the issue of stress in the workplace.

It claims job cuts and increased workloads have led to tougher conditions for staff.

Fylde Central Benefits and Services Branch organiser Rachel Wallace-Dand of the Veterans Agency Branch said: “The employer needs to begin to assess the impact that its policies are having on the stress levels of its employees.

“We will be using the day to highlight the risks of stress to the members and will encourage them to request a stress risk assessment if they are suffering from stress.”

Stress Awareness Day is organised by the International Stress Management Association.
