A Poulton teacher has been nominated for a top award after mentoring businesses over the past 25 years.
Nathalie Barr, director of Clever Cloggs Training, on Breck Road, Poulton, was put forward for the Mentor of the Year award in the International Association of Book-keepers awards following eight years at the helm of her business.
Mrs Barr, 53, has been involved with business, finance and mentoring in the private and public sector for a quarter of a century.
She decided to become an accredited IAB training provider in 2009, to help develop and support students who were looking to become qualified in bookkeeping or set up their own business.
She said: “I was honoured when I was told about it.
“They’ve asked people who know about this business to nominate us and that means a lot more to me.
“Being able to share my skills as a mentor is very rewarding and I’m so grateful to my students and the IAB for their support.”
Malcolm Trotter, IAB chief executive, added: “Nathalie stands out as a strong contender, not only through her technical expertise but from her many years of experience in teaching accounting and business studies in various educational institutions.
“Her natural ability to put students and new entrepreneurs at their ease is exceptionally valuable and I’m delighted that her achievements have been acknowledged in this way.”
The results of each category will be announced in a special awards ceremony in London on 21 June, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the IAB.
