A former pub in Fleetwood could be given a new lease of life as student accommodation if new plans are approved.

A previous application to turn the Jolly Sailor, on Radcliffe Road, into student flats was turned down in August.

The pub has been closed for months. Now fresh plans have been submitted to Wyre Council to convert it into a 13-bedroom self-contained student accommodation block.

The plans, submitted by site owner Darren Greenwood, from Fleetwood, include a two-storey extension to the building.

Consent has previously been granted by Wyre planners for the former pubs to be turned into six private flats.

But in August planners said proposals for a block of 13 student apartments would be “overbearing”.
