Post Office bosses want to reopen Marton Post Office inside a convenience store – and increase its opening hours to 105 a week.
A six-week public consultation into the proposed move, which would see the Post Office counter opened at Smiley’s Convenience Store, 443-449 Waterloo Road, has now been launched.
We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Marton and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future
The Post Office would be open seven days a week.
Simon Drinkwater, Post Office regional manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Marton and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
Marton Post Office, which used to be at 6 Preston New Road, closed in September 2015, and is just under a quarter of a mile away from the proposed new site.
The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.
Should the reopening go ahead, the branch would be open from 7am to 10pm seven days a week. This would be 54 hours a week more than were previously offered.
The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business.
The consultation will close on June7. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost at YOUR COMMENTS, Post Office Ltd, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, via 03457 22 33 44 or at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 186405.
