Luxury apartments have been given the highest rating by national accommodation experts and handed a top local building award.
Visit England and Quality In Tourism have awarded Breck Apartments, in Poulton, the Five Star Gold standard, making it the highest rated accommodation in Wyre and ranking alongside the very best in Blackpool.
The 12 self-contained apartments, on the corner of Breck Road and Lockwood Avenue, opened two months ago after a £1.2m investment in the eye-catching red brick building.
The owners behind the apartment, AP Properties, run by Fleetwood Town chairman Andy Pilley and Paul Cook, have said they are delighted with the accolade but it is no less than what they always aimed for.
Paul said: “Visit England mark everything from your knives and forks to your furniture.
“For exceptional places you get that tag on of gold standard, as well as the five star.
“We were always aiming for that in terms of quality and the lengths we went to to make it amazing, but you never know so it was nice when the award came out.”
The building was also awarded a Wyre Council Building Excellence Award.
Paul added: “We’ve been put forward for a Wyre tourism award now too.
“This can give us something to set ourselves apart.”
The investment saw the building, which once housed ET Knagg and Co Ltd insurance brokers, extended to make way for 12 self-contained apartments.
The building was officially opened at the end of January with interior designer Gail Smith and exterior designer Ian Jackman showing off the apartments, each uniquely decorated.
Andy Pilley has said he intends the short stay apartments to herald a new era of tourism in Poulton.
