Pets At Home is moving closer to opening a second store in Blackpool.

The company has submitted a planning application to Blackpool Council seeking permission for new signs for its proposed new outlet.

It revealed last year that it wanted to open a second branch in the town.

The latest application is for various signs at the former Comet unit on Fox Industrial Estate on Holyoake Avenue.

Pets At Home, which was founded in 1991, is now the largest retailer of pet supplies in the country.

The proposals will be considered by Blackpool’s planning committee, chaired by Coun David Owen.

They include four internally illuminated facia signs, a car parking sign, and a free standing sign at the north west corner of the car park.

Pets At Home already has a store on Blackpool Retail Park at Squires Gate Lane in South Shore.
