MEET the new face in charge of Blackpool’s biggest shopping centre.
Centre manager Savills has appointed Debbs Lancelott as the new boss at the resort’s Houndshill Shopping Centre.
Debbs has moved to Blackpool from High Wycombe where she oversaw the refurbishment and development of the Eden Shopping Centre.
Debbs said “I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic team at Houndshill as well as the people in the town who work together to make Blackpool such a unique place.
“We have some exciting plans for the scheme which I’m looking forward to bringing to fruition.
“I’m also thrilled to be moving back to the North West where I’ll be closer to family and friends.”
Debbs originally started her career in Marketplace Bolton, moving on to work as centre manager in Rochdale and the Great Northern in Manchester before heading to High Wycombe.
The retail guru also sat on the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) Northern Region Committee and was involved in mentoring students within the industry.
New owners Blackstone and Catalyst Capital formed a joint venture to buy Houndshill Shopping Centre in December 2011 for £85m and put Savills at the helm.
The buy-out helped end a period of uncertainty at the centre after previous owner Modus went into administration.
There is no word yet on any plans to resurrect the second phase of development at the centre, put on hold as the economic climate took a turn for the worse.
Blackstone and Catalyst Capital currently own a number of shopping centres across the UK and have significant experience in the market, often redeveloping and extending premises they have bought.
