A FYLDE coast MP today welcomed the news council bosses will receive £500,000 to refurbish the changing facilities at St Annes Swimming Pool.
Fylde MP Mark Menzies said: “I was delighted to hear Fylde Council had been successful in its bid for Sport England funding to improve the changing facilities at St Annes Swimming Pool.
“The pool is something we are proud of here in Fylde and is well used by many of my constituents on a regular basis.
“Health and fitness are something I feel passionate about and with the top facilities now offered by private gyms and fitness centres, council owned facilities must be able to compete.
“Obviously Fylde’s bid for funding impressed the judges and that money should go a long way to making sure my constituency has some of the best swimming facilities in Lancashire.”
Across the country, 38 artificial grass pitches and swimming pool changing rooms will be replaced and refurbished after Sport England announced £9.9m of Lottery investment from the first round of its new Improvement Fund.
