Controversial plans to build 584 homes on land at Marton Moss look set to be approved after concerns over rubbish collections were met.

Blackpool Council’s planning committee deferred a decision on the application by Kensington Developments which is seeking detailed approval for the new homes on Moss House Road.

It was granted outline permission for the scheme in 2010.

Councillors wanted negotiations with the developer into how bins on the estate were emptied to be concluded before the approval was granted.

That has now happened and the item is earmarked for approval when the committee meets again on Monday.

A report says: “Amended refuse tracking plans have now been received which demonstrate a council refuse collection vehicle can either access each property or a communal refuse presentation point within a suitable drag distance of each property.”

A planning hearing is also due to be held today into an appeal by Kensington to revoke an agreement to pay £9m towards affordable housing, which is a condition of the outline planning approval.

It starts at 10am in the town hall.
