The latest version of the BAE-Systems built Typhoon fighter jet has passed its last milestone before test flights.

The first Tranche 3 Typhoon, the latest and most advanced version of the fighter jet, has successfully completed engine ground runs in a facility at Warton.

This is the latest step in the Tranche 3 programme which will improve and expand the Typhoon’s capabilities, ensuring that the fleet is future-proofed and offers all the capabilities of a next generation fighter jet.

Engine ground runs are the last stage of testing before the aircraft makes its first flight - set to take place before the end of the year.
