Hotspots up for tourism gongs

Fylde coast hotspots have received almost three dozen nominations in this year’s Lancashire Tourism Awards.

Nominees in multiple categories include Blackpool Pleasure Beach with four, Marton Mere Holiday Village (two), Blackpool Zoo with (two), and Queens Mansions holiday apartments, on Queens Promenade (two), Cuffe and Taylor Management (two), Sandcastle Waterpark (two), and Toast Cafe and Grille, in Blackpool (two).

The Pleasure Beach was nominated in the Green Tourism, Best for Groups, Retail Experience, and Marketing Initiative categories.

Blackpool Zoo competes in the Conference or Meeting Venue and Large Visitor Attraction awards, while the holiday village is nominated in the Holiday Park and Self Catering Categories.

Queens Mansions is also up for the Self Catering gong, as well as the Luxury Experience award - which features nominations for Breck Apartments, in Poulton, and The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village, in Wrea Green.

Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, said: “We have been so impressed by the quantity and quality of applications, especially in this the Lancashire Tourism Awards 10th anniversary year.

“The awards celebrate the significance of tourism’s current £3.4bn contribution to the Lancashire economy and a great deal of that success is due to the dedication and enterprise of the businesses and individuals named today.

“We congratulate them and ask that colleagues across the county show their appreciation and pride in Lancashire, by supporting these exceptional businesses.”

Other Fylde coast places to receive nominations include The Cartford Inn (Little Eccleston), Mode Hotel (St Annes), Briar Dene Hotel (Blackpool), Elgin Hotel (Blackpool), Claylands Park (Garstang), Windy Harbour Holiday Park (near Singleton), Sea iLfe Centre (Blackpool), Ribby Hall Village Business and Banqueting (Wrea Green), Grundy Art Gallery (Blackpool), The Cheese Shop at Dewlay (Garstang), Armed Forces Week (Blackpool), Fleetwood Festival of Transport, Blackpool Resort Pass, and St Annes Beach Huts.
