HOTELIERS today welcomed moves to open Blackpool’s tourist information centre seven days a week.

The facility, which is housed within Festival House on the Promenade, is now open on Sundays and for an extra hour on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Natalie Wyatt, managing director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “We have a dedicated team of staff who will be on hand every day of the week to answer queries not only from the millions of visitors who are in resort, but those who call and email with enquiries.

“It is essential our visitors can access the information they need with ease while they are here and when they are planning their stay.

“Of course, many people do this via our website, but it is also important we maintain a personal contact with people and a friendly voice on the phone or a welcoming face in the tourist information centre are vital to our visitors.”

The centre was previously open from 9am until 5pm Monday to Saturday.

Its new hours are from 9am until 6pm on Monday and Tuesday, 9am until 5pm on Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.

President of hoteliers group StayBlackpool Claire Smith welcomed the move.

She said: “We have been asking for the tourist information centre to open on a Sunday for a long time.

“It is really important it is open every day because it sends out a message the whole town is open for business, and now the centre is on the Prom it is even more of a focal point for visitors.”
