A popular Italian restaurant chain has been revealed as the company behind a major upgrade of a dilapidated former bar.
Prezzo, which has more than 200 restaurants around the UK, is set to open a new eaterie in St Annes Square.
Building work is ongoing at the venue which shut almost a year ago when it was known as the Sandhills Bar.
A spokesman for Prezzo said: “Located 200m from the train station and seafront, Prezzo Lytham St Annes has a great location for travel and views.
“Historic places of interest like Lytham Windmill, Lytham Hall and Lytham Heritage Centre make for a fantastic visit.”
John Moxham, chairman of St Annes Chamber of Trade, said any new business would help to improve the town’s high street.
He added: “I suppose we now have Tiggis, Margherita and other Italians – what harm will one more do in town.
“It is much better than being an empty retail unit.
“It is in prime spot in the Square and I just hope it stays open all day.
“What we do not need in town is just another pub. Hopefully it will bring jobs too.”
The Sandhills shut its doors at a day’s notice last December after the Smith and Jones-branded pub’s parent company, the Bramwell Group, went into administration.
The new venue is set to open on Tuesday, December 16.
