Bispham is set to get a new discount food store, in a building once occupied by a Co-op.

Heron Foods has announced it is set to open a new store in Red Bank Road.

The convenience retailer, which already has four stores on the Fylde coast, will be creating five jobs for Bispham people with the move.

The former Co-op store will undergo a full internal and external makeover and is due to open its doors for the first time at 8am on Monday, September 24.

The company said it would be a boost to the economy in the area.

It said customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including fresh and frozen food, a pet collection and health and beauty range.

A spokesman from Heron, said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of even more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door in September.”

Heron Foods opened its first store in Hull in 1979.

It now has 250 stores, employs more than 3,000 people and has its base at Melton in East Yorkshire, just west of Hull.
