A Lancashire childcare specialist is expanding and has just picked up a national award for staff development.
Sandcastle Care is on the recruitment trail to add to the 50 staff it already has.
The group, which provides safe and secure residential care for children, has been awarded the Investors in People Silver award.
The award is given to firms which demonstrate their commitment to realising the potential of their people.
Chief executive Ros Denby said the company, based in Rossall Road, Cleveleys, was set up 10 years ago to provide credible, high quality care for some of the most vulnerable children in society.
She said: “We have three homes with 14 beds but we are just about to open our fourth children’s home with another three beds.
“We are opening one just outside Burnley but plan to open yet another in Blackpool shortly.
“These are small homes where the children can be properly looked after to suit their needs. We work with the looked after children for several local authorities.
“It tends to be long term care in the best therapeutic setting for them. It is about offering children a home rather than an institution.”
She said they were currently recruiting team leaders and residential care workers.
She added that she was delighted the company had won the IIP award.
She said: At Sandcastle Care we take pride in caring about our young people not just caring for them. We also take great pride in caring for our employees too.”
Steve Burrows, Managing Director of Investors in People North of England said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Sandcastle Care and I would like to congratulate the team on their success.”
