Three Fylde Coast companies featured among the winners of a top business awards.
The majestic Empress Ballroom Winter Gardens in Blackpool played host to the event which claims to take business seriously, but with a smile on its face.
Winners were selected in 20 categories, covering all sizes and industries.
Multi award-winning Laila’s Fine Foods of picked up the Family Business of the Year award.
The judges said: “Laila’s Fine Foods had a great story, with their family solidarity taking the business from difficult challenges to success.”
Zera Remtulla, daughter of Laila who founded the firm in 1986 when she realised that some supermarket Indian foods were not authentic enough, said the family and the staff were all delighted to have won. She said: “We really are a family at Laila’s Fine Foods and this award is shared with the whole staff. We are over the moon.”
The winner of the Tourism and Leisure Business of the Year was The Cartford Inn, Little Eccleston. The judges said: “The Cartford Inn was a true beacon of Lancashire at its best and were impressed with the focus on customer service and the teams knowledge of the business’s ethos.”
Owner Patrick Beaume said: “We have worked hard on customer service , commitment and on empowering our staff. We like them to treat the business as there own.”
These sentiments were displayed as Patrick could not attend the awards because he was working and when two staff members gave the presentation to the judges when the company was nominated as a finalist.
“They did really well in the presentation. We were up against some big names in this category so we are delighted to win.”
Manufacturing Business of the Year was Tangerine Holdings of Lytham.
It was praised for being “extremely professional with detailed market knowledge, an ambitious growth strategy, and a strong commitment to the area and is dedicated to research and development of new products.”
