Blackpool-based educational travel firm, Next Generation Travel, is marking its fifth anniversary by enjoying its most successful year to date.
The firm has seen a 15-fold increase in turnover since it was set up in 2010, making it one of the sector’s largest privately owned companies, forecast to carry over 35,000 passengers next year alone.
The firm has also attracted award recognition this year, with financial director, David Finch being nominated in the North West Finance Director of the Year category at NWFA 2015, an award scheme that rewards the achievements of FDs across the region.
Managing director Deborah Beckett was also included in the annual list of the North West’s most influential businesswomen, compiled by North West Business Insider magazine.
Next Generation Travel’s remarkable year builds on the firm’s acquisition success in 2013, which saw the group purchase FHT Travel Ltd, a Cambridgeshire-based specialist tour operator which provides trips for students in further and higher education.
The strategic acquisition significantly increased Next Generation Travel’s share of the educational travel market, boosting the capacity of its educational tours to London, continental Europe and the US.
The only educational travel company to be awarded the Investors in People standard and Customer Service Excellence Award, Next Generation Travel has also entered the BETA awards for ‘Best Customer Service’.
NGT Travel started with a team of four in 2010 and following rapid expansion now employs over 40 staff.
By choosing employees with the highest levels of specialist travel experience, the team now has over 450 years’ combined industry experience.
Speaking of NGT Travel’s exceptional achievements, Managing Director Deborah Beckett said: “We are proud to have exceeded our projections for growth in such a short time and to have become a dominant force in the educational travel market.
“We are due to achieve our vision a year earlier than we anticipated so we are now undergoing a full strategic review to set ourselves even more ambitious targets, still keeping our customers central to everything we do.”
