For any wedding a £25,000 cash boost would be a welcome addition to help with the big day... but for two Fylde coast couples bidding for the money, there is just one small catch.

For Vikki Sidlow, 32, and Daniel Wilson, 29, of Stanley Avenue, Poulton, and Roxanne Barraclough, 25 and Daniel Wilkinson, 22, of Preston Old Road, Marton, are among six Lancashire couples
hoping to win the money to fund their dream day.

But for one of the couples to win the cash prize, they must raise as much money as possible by February 22 for the Cash for Kids charity.

The pair who raise the most money will win the £25,000 – with both Fylde coast couples
hoping Gazette readers will back their efforts.

Credit controller Roxanne, who has planned a charity night on February 21 at the G Casino in Blackpool, said: “Me and Daniel have been together for four years nearly now and as a wedding costs a lot this seemed like a great opportunity for us to try and win something we could not afford ourselves.

“We want to get this out there and do our best to raise as much as possible. Obviously whoever raises the most does win a wedding but the important thing behind all this is the amazing charity we are raising the funds for.

“We want to urge any local businesses to get involved as we only have 10 days to do this. Every penny counts.”

Radio station Rock FM announced the couples had made it through to the final six this week.

The couples applied for the competition at the end of January, with a final 20 being whittled down to the last six following a question and answer session with judges.

All money will go to Cash for Kids, helping to deliver programmes for sick and underprivileged children and give disadvantaged youngsters a better and brighter future.

Last year the charity raised close to £16m.

Vikki, 32, said she hoped to use the money to fund her dream wedding to fiance

She added: “We are hoping to raise money through a charity car wash and zumbathon and we have plenty of other events planned too.

“It just does not feel real. We have plenty of ideas and if we do not win, we’ll have raised lots of money for Cash for Kids.”

The winning couple’s wedding will take place at the Great Hall at Mains Hall, Singleton for 50 people. The prize includes a wedding reception and wedding breakfast, as well as the wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses and suits for the groom and groomsmen.

The couple will also enjoy a week-long trip to the Maldives. To donate £5 to Roxanne and Daniel, text KNOT045 to 70070.
