A Blackpool MP is launching a competition to identify Blackpool North and Cleveleys’ best export, which will be showcased alongside the best exports of other parliamentary constituencies as part of the Exported by Britain Campaign.
Exported by Britain is a campaign jointly run by the All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG) and the All-Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group (APDIG).
The APDIG and APMG will expand on the success of their previous project, Made by Britain, which asked MPs to nominate an object or product manufactured in their constituencies.
It attracted more than 300 nominations, including those from the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The new drive aims to put the debate about exporting at the top of the cross-party political agenda, widen public awareness of the scale, variety of and support for contemporary exporting from the UK, promote good examples of exporting and share resources for businesses looking to export.
Blackpool North and Clevleys MP Paul Maynard is now seeking nominations for Blackpool North and Cleveleys’ best export via email@example.com
Paul said: “I am often pleasantly surprised when I visit local businesses and just see the breadth and width of products that are made here.
“Manufacturing is strong locally, from big engineering pieces to precision components for F1 cars, and from LED display technology to the plastic film that makes the speaker on a smartphone work.
“Innovation is rife in this area and that’s just on the engineering side, we also have a flourishing creative industry sector.
“All of these business do or can export their products around the world, bringing in investment which leads to secure local jobs and the raising of the area’s skills base.
“This is great news for us locally and also for the country and I aim to find the finest export companies in my constituency as I believe it is right to showcase their contribution to the on-going recovery.
“If you are a company that exports abroad, please email in to me and we will put you forward in this competition – it doesn’t matter if you are a large plc or a small sole trader – I want to hear from you.”
